You create a project within Ulysses and fill it with documents. Just like a shoe box in which you put all your ideas. The slight difference: You'll never lose your perspective here.
Coherent preview of several documents
Pick a document in the browser and it will be previewed instantly. Pick more than one document in the browser and it will be... guess what?
Innovative filtering and search system
Type in a word or a sentence into the search field. Pick a search area. The browser will show the documents and corresponding notes that contain the text you wanted as well as those that don't hold the text you wanted. Sounds weird? You'll be amazed.
"Tabbed" Single-Window-Interface
Using the browser, you have access to all the documents in your project instantly. The tabs allow you to switch between open documents easily, and yeah, they're rearrangeable. 'course.
Console mode
Fullscreen done right. No menu, no windows, just you and your words. All eyes on text. This is so useful that every competitve product copied it. :)
Customizable interface
Black on white, yellow on purple, 11pt, 48pt, Monaco, Trixie, Copperplate - you decide. Save and export interface sets or use sets created by other users.
Filters...
Too many documents and no structure? Filters help you getting your documents organized. Select a few properties like Status, Label, etc to filter your documents... and off you go! No more fiddling around with files and folders, more time to write.
...and Groups
Still not feeling organized enough? Use the new Groups feature to put related Filters together. Create hierarchies of Groups by nesting them. Structuring and finding your documents has never been easier.
Semantic Text Editing
When you insert a comment, you probably want it italic or greyed-out. But what about the text that is italic, too? Is that a comment as well? Probably not. With Semantic Editing, you tag your comments as comments. You can decide how all comments should look like in the Editor and the exports, Ulysses does the rest for you. Less formatting. More time for the content.
Two editing levels
Every document has a separate note pad. That way, you can keep your notes where they belong.
Status: Labels
Get your project organized! Group your documents with the help of labels and assign a user-custimizable status to each of them.
A hand full of counters
Characters, words, lines, paragraphs, pages and documents, even the current selection and the amount of text you drag'n'drop: It counts for you.
Open file format
No hassle with proprietary files. Honestly. Standard text and rtf-files build the foundation for every Ulysses project. Mac OS X packages are the low-maintenance container.
Data security and integrity
Ulysses will save your work-in-progress. So even after two weeks and several restarts, you can still "revert to saved". As if that wasn't enough, we also included multiple backups and time-based auto-save.
Export based on PlugIns
You can export your projects into several different formats for further editing or later output. Plain Text, RTF, Word Format and LaTeX exporters are included; the integrated print-function allows for PDF creation. Third party developers get the optional PlugIn SDK to develop their own new export options.
Automatic Update
While Ulysses is being improved, you are always up to date. The newest features are just a click away. No troublesome web-site downloads, no need to manually replace old versions - an update has never been easier.
International Support
Localizations include English, German, Spanish, Swedish, Russian, and Dutch.
Mac OS X native; Universal Binary
100% Cocoa. In all flavors. Means spell check, auto complete, services, QuickTime files (notes only), anti-aliased fonts, etc. out-of-the-box.
Optimized for Leopard
The sole requirement to your system is Mac OS X 10.4 (later works, too).

Full, Demo, Trial, Update
Download the fully functional version of Ulysses and start hammering out your ideas. The different licenses are accessible from within the application, so you can either demo the app, request a trial license or register it right away.
The most current updates are also available here, though it's much easier to stay up-to-date from within Ulysses' built-in auto-update.
